Tephrocactus articulatus papyracanthus is a subspecies of the plant genus Tephrocactus. This subspecies is known for its slender, segmented stems, typically around 2-3 cm in diameter, and typically growing in dense clusters. However, unlike the subspecies inermis, papyracanthus has longer, curved, and softer spines that look like paper.
Tephrocactus articulatus papyracanthus is native to Argentina and Uruguay and prefers dry and sandy soils. Like many cactus species, this species is adapted to extreme conditions in order to survive in the arid conditions.
Tephrocactus articulatus papyracanthus is very popular with cactus enthusiasts for its ornamental appearance and easy care. Being a relatively undemanding plant, it is often grown in houseplant collections, in arid landscapes, or in cactus and succulent gardens.
