Tephrocactus articulatus syringacanthus is a subspecies of the plant genus Tephrocactus. This subspecies is known for its slender, segmented stems, typically around 2-3 cm in diameter, and typically growing in dense clusters. However, unlike the subspecies inermis and papyracanthus, syringacanthus has longer and straight spines that are stiff and acicular, resembling small syringes (syringe needles).
Tephrocactus articulatus syringacanthus is native to Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay and prefers dry and sandy soils. Like many cactus species, this species is adapted to extreme conditions in order to survive in the arid conditions.
Tephrocactus articulatus syringacanthus is very popular with cactus enthusiasts for its ornamental appearance and easy care. Being a relatively undemanding plant, it is often grown in houseplant collections, in arid landscapes, or in cactus and succulent gardens.
